These are the youchamp frequently asked questions. Here you will find the answers to all your questions, including how to share payments, split group expenses and send and receive money in our bill splitting app.

Do my friends need to download the app to join a group?2018-12-17T08:10:07+00:00

If they want to chat in the group, yes they do! BUT, they don’t need to download the app to pay. Instead, you can provide them with the group number and they can go to the Make a Payment section on the website and pay through there, just like in the split bill app. As a youchamp user, we will always request you to suggest your friends download youchamp app to send and receive money.

Do you charge any fees for this bill splitting app?2018-12-17T08:15:14+00:00

Yes and No. We don’t charge any fees for transactions which are under $100. We charge $1 for transactions under $499, $5 for transactions up to $2,499 and $10 for transactions over $2,500. The youchamp fees are evenly distributed to all members of the group. For example you have 5 people in the group, each member of the group will contribute $.20 cents towards the youchamp fees. In addition to that if you choose to pay by credit card there will be very nominal credit card fees that you will incur which you will incur regardless of how you pay and when using POLIPayments there is a very small fee for them. We have negotiated the best possible rates available with Stripe for all youchamp users and only charge our users what we are being charged!

How do you close a group?2018-12-17T08:15:51+00:00

The group Arranger is able to swipe left on a group at any time and tap claim. This will archive the group and any outstanding funds will be transferred to the Organiser or the party taking the tab for the money spent. We’ll also charge any processing fees at the time to the Arranger’s credit card.

What’s the difference between equal not unequal splits?2018-12-17T08:17:40+00:00

Sometimes you’ll go for a holiday and everyone is paying the same for the accommodation. Sometimes you’ll go out for dinner and one person will have a diet coke while another person will have a lobster. With youchamp, you can make your group to suit either way. A Split Equal groups means youchamp will automatically calculate the amount owing by everyone and let them know. An Unequal Split means each person will have to enter the amount they are paying and youchamp will keep track of it for you.

Can I pay for my friends?2018-12-17T08:17:44+00:00

You absolutely can share costs! Just tap on pay for someone else and you can select who you want to pay for. In a Split Equal group, you’ll be paying the equal amount and in an unequal split group you’ll have to enter how much you want to pay for each person. Champy doesn’t tell anyone that you’ve paid for someone else though. He’ll just let everyone know that each person has made their own payment.

Why can’t you make direct payments to my credit card?2018-12-17T08:18:00+00:00

We are actively seeking a solution to allow instant transfers to credit cards. We don’t want you to have to create another account with another system, so until we can find something seamless, we’ll continue to use Stripe and then transfer money to you every day. Our most ideal solution to you will be to credit your credit card with the amount owed to you by the group that you have created.

When will my money come to my account?2018-12-17T08:18:14+00:00

We transfer funds every day! So it’s entirely up to your bank when it arrives. With the new banking systems coming in to place these should happen within hours of you claiming the money, except on weekends when it can take up to next business day for your money to be in your account.
